Students in Chad Dunwoody's eighth-grade social studies class raised more than $500 for the TSC's annual Backpack Splash. The August 3 event includes free school supplies, shoes and other services to help TSC students and families with back-to-school expenses.
At the beginning of the year, students who forgot their laptop charger dropped a quarter in the classroom jar. Dunwoody was planning on using that money for an end-of-the-year pizza party. But, after the coins started to add up, students wanted their money to go to a charity. They chose to raise more money and have the funds to go to the annual Backpack Splash.
More details about the event will be released next month.
