The Tippecanoe School Corporation Board of School Trustees recognized Dayton Elementary fifth grader Shaylyn Johnson as the winner of the 2025 Student Art Contest.
Shaylyn received a $50 award for her pencil drawing titled "Koala Paradise," which features one of her favorite animal. Inspired by her love of koalas, the detailed artwork is now framed and on display at the TSC Administrative Offices.
The Student Art Recognition Program began in 1990 and alternates annually between elementary and secondary school entries. Art teachers from each school submit student work, which is reviewed by a panel of art educators and administrators.
Shaylyn is pictured below with her art teacher Aleena Popp and Principal Ryan Simmons.
