The Tippecanoe School Corporation has appointed Alyssa Hart as its Assistant Director for Special Education. This is a new position to help facilitate programs for the district’s nearly 2,200 students with special education needs.

Hart has several years of experience teaching special education and holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Ball State University. She is excited to return to the TSC where she was a student. “I am a McCutcheon High School graduate,” says Hart. “This is where I had many teachers who made me want to become an educator.”

TSC Special Education Director Kelly Gabauer says Hart brings experience from working with other school corporations in K-12 special education. “We will work closely together to continue to create and provide quality programs and services to meet the needs of all of our students,” says Gabauer.

Hart says her goal is to create and maintain positive, supportive relationships with all stakeholders: “I’m passionate about maintaining high expectations for all learners as well as empowering the teachers who work with them everyday. I love to work with teams to think outside the box in order to help all students access the curriculum and find success in and out of the classroom.”

The TSC Board of School Trustees ratified Hart’s contract at its July 14 meeting.
