More than 170 TSC teachers joined educators from across the state at the 2019 IGNITE Lafayette Regional eLearning Conference at Sunnyside Intermediate School, Lafayette. More than 40 different school districts were represented at the event. The conference theme was “Create, Collaborate and Celebrate.”
The two-day event included workshops about different tools and resources that teachers can implement in their classrooms. Topics range from creating videos and online books to cyber safety and robotics.
More than a dozen TSC educators were among those presenting as well. Mayflower Mill Elementary School teacher Claire Brown explained how to use BookCreator and how to track student fluency levels. Brittany Bredar from Cole Elementary School shared her classroom experiences with Empatico. The program that involves live video chats spark curiosity, kindness and empathy. Others shared information on reading apps, technology to enhance learning for English Language Learners, tips on staying organized and graphic design.
“We had many first-time attendees,” says Sarah Margeson, TSC Coordinator of Connected Learning. “As a conference committee, we love being able to provide a state level, quality conference at a local level for an affordable price. For many teachers, this is the one conference a year they can attend due to time and money. We're able to bring in national speakers and teachers can connect with influencers in the world of edtech.”
