Since its opening in 2008, all BGMS students have been introduced to Robotics in the Technology Education curriculum utilizing Lego NXT Mindstorms robots. These robots have provided the students with training in STEM subjects and computer science needed to be successful in the 21st century.
These LEGO NXT units have served beyond their intended capacity and the Tippecanoe School Corporation is working to update the Robots and the laptops for programming them, but more funding is needed to fully upgrade our curriculum. We are attempting to replace all 40 of our Lego NXT kits with the new LEGO EV3 units and are still trying to obtain additional funding. We added 15 units this year, but an additional $12,500 is needed to fund the remaining 25 units. That amount far exceeds typical local grant options and are looking for help from our BGMS community.
If you, or someone you know, works in one of the many industrial businesses in the community that knows a contact to create a local business funding partnership we would like some assistance. Please contact our Tech Teacher, Mr. Jeff Brenner with anyone he could contact that might be a funding source to develop a partnership. Thanks for your support.
