December has arrived in full force. We are kicking off the month with our second set of NWEA assessments to measure student progress. If you share nothing else with your student about NWEA, please help them understand this is a very important assessment for our school and for each of them individually. The information we get from this assessment lets us know if the students are on grade level, below grade level, or above grade level. While these assessments are not used as part of the student's overall grade in any course, we do use the data to drive decisions as a whole school and for classroom instruction.
Don't forget that December 13 is the Winter Choir Concert. I know that our students have been working hard to prepare for these concerts. Come out and support our Choir students by attending the concerts. The concert begins at 7:00 pm!
Dress according to the weather. It is getting extremely cold outside and it is frustrating to see students walking into the building in shorts or other clothing that is not sufficient for the cold weather. If you or your student is in need of warmer clothing, please contact me directly and I can help get you what you need. Indiana weather can be very unforgiving and I want to make sure all of our students are safe and warm for winter!
Did you know that in January we will be celebrating our Kindness Day? This year's theme is "Let's Taco-bout Being Kind". We had all 6th-grade students participate in, and any 7th or 8th-grade student who wanted to volunteer to, design a t-shirt. This year's winner goes to Payne Meyer! We will feature his design on our webpage.
The end of the semester is just a few short weeks away. Let's make the best of it and have a great end to the first semester.
Wishing you the joy of the holiday season, peace, good health, and happiness!
