BGM Weekly Info August 30, 2020
Good evening Tomahawks!
It is exciting to be moving into September this week. A reminder that this Friday, September 4, 2020, is another remote learning day for students. The BGM staff will be in the building, but the students will be working from home. This Friday we will practice part of our block schedule. Periods 1-4 will be meeting.
Here is the schedule for our Friday remote learning day:
7:00 am-2:30 pm One Touch Attendance (look for an email from Mrs. Day with the link)
Period 1: 8:30 - 9:30 AM
Period 2: 9:45 - 10:45 AM
Period 3: 12:00 - 1:00 PM
Period 4: 1:15 - 2:15 PM
Parents, please make sure your students identify each of their classes with the time assigned to meet. These meetings will be longer. The instructional part of each class period will be no more than 20 minutes followed by questions and answers, discussions, and an assignment. Students will not be given assignments for class periods 5-7 this day.
We finally received our string packs for the students. Those were handed out last week. These are the packs that students can carry to classes. Students please remember that you should not be carrying backpacks! The string packs have been provided for you to use during the school day to carry supplies, water bottles, hand sanitizer, extra face masks, etc.
Moving into our second full week of school, students will be expected to be to class on time. Because we do not stop at our lockers between each class, there is no reason for students to be tardy. Please make sure you get to classes on time prepared to learn with all your necessary supplies.
A reminder that students should have a charged Chromebook for each day of school. Create a routine for charging the Chromebook in the evening so that it is ready to go the next day. We do not have extra charging cords for students to borrow.
Parents and students using the drop-off/pick-up line each day:
Please be sure you are unloading as soon as you pull up. Several parents are using the line this year and we need to be able to move the line as quickly as possible. If you need to talk with your student before unloading, please use the parking lot on the West side of the building by the track and football field before getting in the drop-off line.
At the end of the day, students need to watch for their cars and be ready to get in quickly. Students need to spread out along the sidewalk and follow their car until it comes to a stop to get in. We should be able to load 20 cars at one time before the next group pulls in. We will get a routine down, but we need everyone’s cooperation. Make sure that you dress according to the weather.
Parents and students,
Due to restrictions on crowd size during athletic events, we must also restrict who is attending our athletic events. Until further notice, NO STUDENTS WILL BE ALLOWED AT ATHLETIC EVENTS unless they are immediate family of an athlete. Each athlete (both home and visiting athletes) will be allowed ONLY 2 spectators at each event (this includes both small children and school-age children). You must declare the athlete you are there to watch when paying at the ticket gate. No family passes will be sold this season. If more than 2 people per athlete try to enter, they will be denied admission. This policy is in place at all TSC middle schools.
TSC senior passes and TSC employee ID's will still be accepted but will count towards the athlete's 2 spectators.
Spectators will be expected to socially distance and wear masks when they cannot socially distance.
This is not ideal but we MUST comply with the Tippecanoe County Health Department requirements or risk shutting down our athletic seasons.
Best of luck to our athletes as they continue competing.
